Stage 1 can also be termed the land of safety. We are given society's cumulative answers about how to live our lives. We only have 1 model and our task is to learn the model and conform to it. Our parents, peers and society serve as a key source of this model. 

 

When a Stage 1 Model stops working for the individual, we reject it and go in search of a new model.
